Description: Excellent card of Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan, #513 in the unique 1971 set. This card has been graded 3 - Very Good by PSA, and features nice centering and color. An all-or-nothing pitcher who unabashedly tried to strike out everyone, Ryan is - by far - the all-time leader in strikeouts. He is also by far the all-time leader in walks, and he is second in wild pitches, behind only Tony Mullane, whose career began in 1881. (Of the other five players in the top six all-time in wild pitches, they have a combined two seasons after 1899.) When he was on, Ryan was arguably the most unhittable pitcher ever: he threw seven career no-hitters, three more than anyone else, and his 61 shutouts are tied with Tom Seaver for 7th all-time; no pitcher whose career went past the mid-1960s has ever thrown more. Ryan pitched until he was 46, and in addition to his all-time strikeout lead, he also won 324 games, which is bested by only four pitchers since World War 2.
