You rarely see the unisphere unless it is the backdrop for an action film or science fiction. A pity. This film is a fascinating look at the conceptualization and creation of a truly fine piece of sculpture. Film Release Date: 1964 Film Entered the Public Domain: 1993 Film: 2 "To The Fair" (1965) COLOR Runtime 26 minutes This film follows various groups of people during their day at the fair: a family of five; a couple from India; two women schoolteachers; three Boy Scouts who get separated from their troupe; a pair of young women pursued by two very ardent male suitors. A must-see not only for those interested in this fair, but also for fans of Disneyland. Several Disney attractions (the Carousel of Progress, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, It's a Small World, even those dinosaurs you see from the railroad) were developed and built for the fair. Tons and tons of stuff going on, from science, to geography, to, yes, religion all have a spot at the fair, it's a great preview.Film Release Date: 1964Film Entered the Public Domain: 1993 Film: 5 1964 New York World's Fair Report (1961) B&W Runtime 26 minutes An overview to transform Flushing Meadow into the World's Fair of 1965 is showcased here. Quite interesting background information on how much time is needed to put one of these on. With Robert Moses and many others.Film Release Date: 1961Film Entered the Public Domain: 1990 Film 6: World's Fair Night Aerials (1964) COLOR SILENT Runtime 4 minutes Professionally shot raw footage of aerials of the 1963-1964 World's Fair in New York. The footage is silent, but it is nicely shot in color. The quality of the print is incredibly clean. The best shots are some spectacular shots of the fair's iconic giant globe complete with illuminated continents. In the middle of this film is also some fly overs of a baseball stadium illuminated as if for a night game (but it does not appear as if a game is taking place)-- maybe Yankee Stadium, but more likely Shea Stadium around the time it opened in 1964.
