Description: New & Unsmoked Ser Jacopo R1 Rustic Pot Billiard Delecta Brindle Mount This Ser Jacopo pipe is new and unsmoked. Handmade in Italy by Ser Jacopo When Giancarlo first introduced his Delecta mount, at the very beginning of Ser Jacopo, they were applied to bent billiards. That was how he envisioned them, and they were a great success. It took a bit of prodding, but he subsequently used the Delecta mount on other bents - Dublins, Apples, etc. - but only on bents. It took a lot more prodding to have him try it with a straight pipe, but several years in he finally did. Ultimately, the pot billiard - like this piece - was the only straight Delecta which he produced with any regularity (and in very small quantities compared to the bents). This piece seems simple but has a lot going on. It's a R1 rustic with a great color that isn't seen any longer. The carving is beautifully defined throughout yet the top of the bowl and its thick walls have been left natural. The nomenclature fits (just) in the single panel on the underside of the shank. The Delecta mount itself is made from brindle stem material as is the sleeve on the second tenon of the stem. This is a great classic Delecta from quite a few years ago. The R1 designation has been used since the early days (though not the earliest days) of the Ser Jacopo workshop. The designation indicates a pipe with a rustic carved finish. The pipe could come in a variety of stains from fairly light to almost black. Often there were two stains, with the top stain buffed in places to let the lower color be seen for contrast.
