Description: This is a brand new KATO Kobo N Scale ALCO PA-1 Locomotive with Factory-Installed ESU LokSound Select Decoder in the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe "Goldbonnet" paint scheme. The locomotive number is 53L (Item #176-053L-LS). This locomotive is ready to run!ALCO's beautiful PA-1 is one of America's most famous locomotives. It was ALCO's entry into the passenger train diesel craze, competing directly with the E-Units from EMD. They were built in Schenectady, New York, in the United States by a partnership of the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) and General Electric (GE) between June, 1946 and December, 1953. They were of a cab unit design, and both cab-equipped lead A unit (PA) and cabless booster B unit (PB) models were built. The gold painted "Goldbonnet" PA-1 was part of a promotional train painted up for General Electric in February of 1960. The train included the striking PA-1 along with a baggage car and three lounge cars that were also painted gold for GEs "Golden Values" promotion campaign in Southern California. The train ran between Los Angeles, Pasadena, San Bernardino, Fullerton and San Diego and after the promotion was over the four cars were returned to their normal paint schemes.
