Description: This unique book from a northland missionary in very nice condition with dark tan cloth boards with debossed black and orange title and decorations. In the center of the book is an emblem with three running dogs that shows some age darkening, but boards have no wear and only a small red mark in the lower gutter, no other blemishes. The top and bottom of the back step shows slight wear but the text and illustration to the spine is bright with no fading. All corners are sharp with no bumping, but each has some slight amount of wear. Spine is firm with no cracking to the endpapers. Text block is solid with all pages firmly attached. Slight age tanning throughout. The frontispiece tissue guard intact. All interior pages are clean with no tears, cracks, or previous owner marks. Each chapter talks about a different dog – leader dogs, brave dogs, cowardly dogs, sneaky dogs but all beloved - and is illustrated with black & white photographs and illustrations. 285 pages. After over twenty years as a missionary, he published his first book about the hardships in the cold northwest to meet and covert the Cree. He went on to write over fifteen books, and beginning in 1888, Young gave lectures about mission life in the eastern United States, British Isles, and important cities in North America. In 1904-1905 Young and his wife went on a trip around the world, with and extended stay in Australia for lectures and distribution of his books.
