Description: Thank you for your interest in my auction. I am selling the following item: A Tamanoa Rule 0 Commander Deck: This is a commander deck built around Tamanoa. It is for the Commander/EDH format and includes 100 cards. The Commander/EDH format is a singleton format meaning you can have no more than a single copy of any given card other than basic land in the deck. This deck is built assuming your playgroup will let you Rule 0 that Tamanoa can be your commander. Bear in mind that this card is normally not a legal commander. So it requires permission from your playgroup to allow you to use Tamanoa as your commander. Now, assuming your playgroup lets you play with Tamanoa as your commander lets talk about the deck. The deck’s commander is Tamanoa and the other 99 cards in the deck are dedicated to punishing your opponents in a variety of ways with noncombat damage to repeatedly trigger Tamanoa’s ability. Tamanoa’s ability reads “Whenever a noncreature source you control deals damage, you gain that much life.” This is an insane ability. The reason it is insane is that the whole point of commander is to knock down your opponents’ life totals before they can knock your down first. So your deck is filled with an array of cards to damage your opponents. Then it capitalizes on the lifegain to push your life total out of kill range by your opponents. The deck only has 1 creature in it, Tamanoa, who is your commander. So you basically have a creatureless deck. But not to worry because this deck will make it very hard for you to be attacked for damage, for damage to even matter because of your absurdly high life total, or for creatures to survive for very long on the battlefield. Standouts in the deck include: Pyrohemia, Spellshock, Lightmine Field, and Manabarbs. and Tamanoa of course! There 29 Rares in the deck so there is some great card quality which you will see for yourself when you get playing! Creatures: There is only 1 creature in the deck, Tamanoa. Your deck is filled with many ways to stop attacks and destroy creatures with damage so you should not be worried about not having creatures of your own. Spells: The deck’s spell suite includes a mix of damage dealing, card advantage, ramp, and protection for your Tamanoa and other permanents. Harmonize and Cathartic Reunion are examples of the card advantage spells in the deck. These are important so that you can draw through your deck to get the cards you need to fill gaps in your board state or to hurl damage at your opponents. Regrowth and the stronger Reap the Past will get back cards you need to keep doing damage, keep drawing, or keep ramping your board state. Cards like Razor Barrier and Faith's Shield can save your Tamanoa or another vital permanent at instant speed. Then there are some huge damage spells that will create giant swings in the board state and relative life totals. Imagine casting Chain Reaction with your Tamanoa in play. Assuming you have means to protect Tamanoa like its equipped with Magebane Armor or enchanted with Mask of Law and Grace. Or even if you have instant protection to cast in response to the Chain Reaction. Now imagine there are say 12 total creatures in play. Not unreasonable in Commander with four players. You cast Chain Reaction which inflicts 12 points of damage on each of the 12 creatures. This is 144 points of total damage so with Tamanoa in play you gain 144 life points! And probably destroy all 12 creatures including Tamanoa if it was not protected. But who cares! You just gained 144 life points and wiped the table! And there are a lot more spells like that in the deck. Incite Rebellion can do even more damage! Or cast an overloaded Mizzium Mortars. At instant speed you can cast Startstorm or Squall Line to dish out even more damage depending on your available mana pool. These are not even your main ways of dealing damage but are nice controlled ways to deal some damage on top of your board state. Artifacts: The deck’s artifacts are a group of cards that combine player punishment, creature punishment, card advantage and some utility. Caltrops and Dingus Staff help punish creature strategies and depending on how many creatures trigger them can really up your life total while punishing your opponents. Wheel of Torture and Iron Maiden punish hand size which will also provide small lifegain while it happens. Magebane Armor protects your Tamanoa so it sticks around while you are flinging damage around. The Book of Rass can give you bigger and bigger draws as your mana base grows. The life cost is trivial once you online all the ways this deck will get you life points. The talismans are great too for fixing your mana while the damage you take is offset whenever Tamanoa is in play. Enchantments: There are a lot of enchantments in the deck and they sort of take the place of your creatures. A lot of your serious damage cards are in this group. Also, the combat deterrents are here as well. Lightmine Field will destroy any number of creatures and the more that attack the better it gets! Remember, this also will goose your life total when it damages attacking creatures. Aether Flash will just eliminate the small stuff as it comes into play wrecking going wide strategies while also adding to your life total with Tamanoa in play. Manabarbs and Overabundance punish everyone for tapping lands but Tamanoa keeps the damage from killing you while these enchantments kill your opponents. Light of Sanction will protect your Tamanoa from damage so that you can activate cards like Pyrohemia and really ruin the table. Say there were 10 creatures in play and 3 opponents. Every activation of Pyrohemia does 1 point of damage to all of the creatures and players and you gain 14 points of life if your Tamanoa is in play! For 1 red mana! Finally, with Light of Sanction in play you can go wide with Angelic Accord and Dawn of Hope and actually start flooding the table with your own creatures! On the plus side, even without Light of Sanction in play the creatures you create just add to your life total whenever you use a card that damages creatures! So if you like gaining life, mercilessly punishing your opponents for doing anything at all, or winning games with an unusual deck and unusual set of win conditions then this deck is for you!
