The framing and matting look wonderful with the print. Depicted is the Le Mont-Saint-Michel, an island commune in Normandy, France. It is located about one kilometre off the country's northwestern coast.The island has held strategic fortifications since ancient times and since the 8th century AD has been the seat of the monastery from which it draws its name. The structural composition of the town exemplifies the feudal society that constructed it. On top is the abbey and monastery; below, the great halls; then stores and housing; and at the bottom, outside the walls, houses for fishermen and farmers. Mont Saint-Michel was formed by an underground intrusion of molten magma about 525 million years ago. For most of its history, it was connected to the mainland.The Mont has a circumference of about 960 metres (3,150ft) and its highest point is 92 metres (302ft) above sea level. This print has a magical and peaceful quality to it, it is extremely beautiful. Measures about 30" x 27" with framing, print itself measures about 17.5" x 14.5".
