Description: This small individual-sized decorative glass carafe was manufactured by the Weico Company in Chicago and was most likely intended for juice. Weico created and sold an entire line of similarly designed carafes which were sometimes sold individually or in pairs, like this one; and sometimes as part of a larger set consisting of a large serving carafe and 6 smaller ones. They are typically made of Pyrex, although this one does not have the Pyrex marking on it. In the late 1950's, there was an explosion of design that we now refer to as "atomic," based on shape and, in some instances, decoration. This carafe has the modernist, rocketship nosecone shape that puts it squarely in that genre. So iconic and interesting are Weico's designs, that they are part of the collection of the Corningware Glass Museum as well as the West Virginia Museum of American Glass. This charming carafe measures 5 1/2" tall and is 3 1/4" wide at the base. It holds 1 1/2 cups (12 oz) of liquid when filled to the base of the neck; or, enough to fill two 6 oz juice glasses. The trim appears to be a plastic gimp which is decorated with wooden beads. It is in fine vintage condition with no visible flaws. It will be carefully wrapped and packaged.
