Description: Up for your consideration is a hand painted M.A. Hadley Pitcher that features a horse on the front. There are also three fences as well as a cloud and some birds on the front as well. The inside bottom of the pitcher has the words "The End" painted with a period. Very clever! The bottom of the pitcher is signed M.A. Hadley. The pitcher measures 5" tall to the top of the spout and holds 22 ounces of liquid. It is in nearly mint condition as there are no chips or cracks. I don't think it was ever used! This pitcher would make a wonderful addition to your M.A. Hadley collection. The Hadley Pottery Company came into being in early 1940 in Louisville, Kentucky. Mary Alice Hadley used her knowledge of clay and her artistic abilities at the facility until her death in 1965. George Hadley continued to run the business until it was sold in 1979. In September 2009, the new partners joined the Hadley Pottery ownership group, and operations remain largely the same as they were when the company was started. The creative inspiration that Mary Alice Hadley brought to the ware still lives today. Each piece is formed much like it was 60 years ago, using clay native to Kentucky and Indiana. The pottery is known for its folksy, whimsical decoration. The decoration is hand-painted directly on the unfired clay and items are then coated with a porcelain-like white glaze by dipping or spraying. The pottery is fired only one time which produces a very durable piece. Please make sure to visit my eBay store "Robin's Vintage Finds" as I have just acquired over 50 pieces of Hadley pottery!! I love to combine shipping whenever possible in order to save you money.
