lot of 9 Stanley socket style wood chisels various markings & widths 5 are 3/4"

Description: You are bidding on one lot of 9 wood chisels as picture. To be clear, 8 are marked STANLEY in a variety of markings described below, the 9th appears to be a Stanley chisel but is not marked Stanley. From left to right, they include:--- a long 1/4" chisel marked "STANLEY MADE IN USA" on the socket. Actual blade width at the sharp end is about .280", and length of the steel portion (blade and socket) not including the wood handle is a hair under 8". Blade is good to very good with some patina (color) but no pitting. Handle needs a much better fitting, has several cracks and one large chip, some chips next to the leather washers, and the leather washers are well worn. --- a 1/2" chisel marked "STANLEY MADE IN USA" on the socket. Actual blade width at the sharp end is about .515", and length of the steel portion (blade and socket) not including the wood handle is about 5-1/2". Blade is good with some patina (color) and some light pitting mostly on the back side near the sharp edge. Handle is good other than some odd marks near the socket and the leather washer (only one) is well worn. --- another 1/2" chisel marked "STANLEY MADE IN USA" on the socket. Actual blade width at the sharp end is about .498", and length of the steel portion (blade and socket) not including the wood handle is about 5-1/4". Blade is good with some patina (color) and no pitting, but it has some plier marks (ugh!) near the upper end of the blade on both sides. Handle is good other than some odd dings near the washers, and the leather washers are well worn. --- a 3/4" chisel marked with the later style of the STANLEY sweetheart logo (top of heart flush with the bottom of the rectangle) and with "MADE IN USA" below that all on the socket, and also marked with the STANLEY notched rectangle logo on the upper end of the blade. Actual blade width at the sharp end is about .745", and length of the steel portion (blade and socket) not including the wood handle is about 5-3/8". Blade is good with some patina (color) and some scattered hints of faint pitting mostly on the back side. The upper end of the socket has the bell shape, and it might have been lightly reground around the perimeter (or that might be the factory grinding). Handle is fair to good with lots of scratches near the washers, and the leather washers are well worn. --- another 3/4" chisel marked "STANLEY D MADE IN USA" on the socket. Actual blade width at the sharp end is about .765", and length of the steel portion (blade and socket) not including the wood handle is about 5-5/8". Blade is good to very good with some patina (color) and no pitting. Handle is good to very good with good color, but the wood is well worn at the struck end. The little leather washer only covers the center of the struck end, so the wood gets struck at the same time as the washer. --- another 3/4" chisel marked "STANLEY D MADE IN USA" on the socket. It has one serious condition issue, please keep reading. Actual blade width at the sharp end is about .760", and length of the steel portion (blade and socket) not including the wood handle is about 4-15/16". Blade is good to very good with some patina (color) and no pitting, BUT the upper end has been ground down in a bevel around the perimeter. Handle is fair to good, doesn't fit the socket very well as can be seen, lots of scratches over much of it, perhaps from being buffed or wire brushed, and the leather washers are worn and also have been ground down. --- a 3/4" chisel marked "STANLEY No 750 MADE IN USA" on the socket. Actual blade width at the sharp end is about .740", and length of the steel portion (blade and socket) not including the wood handle is about 5-3/16". Blade is good to very good with some patina (color) and no pitting, EXCEPT that it has one of the worst sharpening jobs you will see (see the close-up picture). Handle is good, appears to be the original reddish Stanley finish but much of the finish has chipped or flaked off, and the leather washers are well worn. --- a 3/4" chisel marked "STANLEY MADE IN USA" on the socket. Actual blade width at the sharp end is about .765", and length of the steel portion (blade and socket) not including the wood handle is about 5-3/8". Blade is good to very good with a dark but even patina (color) and no pitting. There are a couple of tiny dings in the edges. Handle is fair with the very grainy appearance, perhaps again buffed or wire brushed, has several chips in the decorative ring, doesn't fit the socket very well, and the leather washers are worn. --- and a 1" chisel that is only marked "MADE IN USA" on the socket. It appears to be Stanley made but is not marked as such. Actual blade width at the sharp end is very close to 1", and length of the steel portion (blade and socket) not including the wood handle is about 5-7/16". Blade is good with some patina (color) and a few faint hints of pitting near the sharp edge on the back side, and some tiny chips in the sharp edge. Handle is fair with a grainy appearance and some deep chips near the washers. It has the remnants of a reddish finish. The leather washers are worn. The winner gets all 9 chisels, I'm not splitting them up. SHIPPING: 3 or 4 pounds when boxed, shipped US Postal Service Ground Advantage, insurance is included. No International shipping. l sell what I enjoy, and I collect antique woodworking tools and I enjoy photography! The queue is overflowing with tools right now, as they seem to be finding me faster than I can list them. So please keep watching my postings as I have LOTS more to list!Searching my listings: I have lots to see! Some of you will undoubtedly enjoy browsing through everything, but if you want to hone in on something specific, I suggest you click on the "Visit Store" link in Seller Information section in the upper right of this listing. That will lead you to my extensive system of categories. How to subscribe to my eBay newsletter? Every Friday eBay sends out my newsletter featuring 10 of my most interesting new listings. To subscribe, click the VISIT STORE to go to my eBay store and then click on the heart symbol that is labeled SAVE SELLER. That will automatically get you on the mailing list for the newsletters. They are free, and you can unsubscribe at any time. ETHICS IN DESCRIPTIONS: I also buy for my collecting on eBay, and I have been burned too many times by misleading (duh did I forget to mention .......) descriptions, and auctions with pictures only of the left side because the right side was trashed. Life is much simpler for me if I disclose what I know or see about an item before you bid, and especially before you receive it in the mail. I come from the handshake school of doing business, and hopefully you are like me and understand what that means. What goes around, comes around.RETURN POLICY: I believe that if you give honest descriptions, and include enough pictures, you shouldn't need a return policy. However, that doesn't mean that I won't make an occasional mistake. Please bid with the assurance that if I have made an error in my listing, I WILL take care of you. And if you have made an error, and bought the wrong size, for example, I will still take care of you (but I’ll let you pay the return shipping!).USPS POSTAGE RATE INCREASES: I use the Post Office for everything, and yes, the shipping charges just keep going up and up. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it's not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30" long, because those longer packages won't fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location. There is lots of information available from eBay that explains it in much more detail. The sales tax is completely out of my hands -- I don't have anything to do with deciding whether to charge tax, I don't have anything to do with deciding the tax rate, and I never see any of the funds that are collected, they go directly to eBay.SELLING OUTSIDE OF EBAY: Why would I risk my lengthy good standing with eBay to save you a couple of dollars? Especially when you ask on an email that is sent through the eBay email system? Please don't ask, the answer is no.INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: I no longer ship Internationally other than Canada. If you are in Canada, ask for what the shipping would cost, but be prepared for it to be $$$$$. AUCTIONS: I won’t end an auction listing early to sell it to you directly. As a bidder, I really dislike going back at the end of an auction to bid, only to discover that the seller had ended the auction early. So I won’t do that for you, or to you.PACKAGING: Please check my feedback -- I package well. I figure if you take the time to purchase from me, then I can take the time to package it well, and not just throw it into a cereal box with a scrap of newspaper.I hope someday I will meet some of you as we trudge the happy road of tool collecting!
