Description: Lionel 1681E, 2-4-0 LIONEL JR. locomotive, made in 1934-35, modelled after The Lionel-Ives 1661E made in 1933, after Lionel acquired Depression-weakened competitor Ives. The motor is the same style as used in the later Lionel 258 locos, but the major difference is the wheels on the 1681E. The wheels on the 1681E has 8 spoke wheels. Later production changed the wheels. The LIONEL JR nameplate was also discontinued shortly after this production, making this a rare find and a decent candidate for restoration. Good black and red paint, most visible rust is on top of cow catcher. Obvious missing parts includes one drive wheel, side rods and pilot wheels. Wheels turn freely, not tested. Sold as is, no returns please. Happy to send additional photos and answer questions by email. TCA member, number provided upon request.
