The game was announced in 2009 as part of the True Crime series but was canceled by Activision Blizzard in 2011, as a result of the project's delays and budget issues. Six months later, Square Enix purchased the publishing rights and renamed the game Sleeping Dogs, without the True Crime license, but considered a spiritual successor. During development, United Front staff visited Hong Kong to conduct field research for the visual environments and sound. Square Enix London Studios worked with United Front for the development. ------------------------------------------------------------ Released in a Steelbook case originally when the 360 and PS3 versions were coming out, this is an exclusive import that came from a Canadian store called "Future Shop" and was limited in quantity. The case actually has no 360 or PS3 markings on it, so if you wanted to display your later copies (Xbox One, PS4... PC?) of this game in the case, it would look fine and not out of place at all. Like a lot of SteelBook cases, this one has no markings and is just a special case that was available for a short time and in a specific area, likely for pre-orders or something like that. The fact it isn't marked with one insignia is nice because any disc will feel right at home, from any console. I originally purchased this online for a lot more than I am selling it for, but my collection is being thinned out... Also, due to having it on hand and it being the only hard copy of the game I own right now, also Included is a tested and working copy of Sleeping Dogs for Xbox 360. The copy of Sleeping Dogs itself has a sticker on the center as I wound up liking it so much when I first got it, I kept it from a Red Box for too long if I recall and wound up getting charged for it. The game works fine, but the sticker is on there, unless you know of some way to get it off. But this is more for the sale of the Canadian store's exclusive case.... if you have a 360 and want to play the game on top of nabbing this case, that's perfect for you, because the disc is basically a throw-in here. Otherwise, you can do what you wish with it.... I simply have no use but to just include it, even if it isn't the big fish in the pond here. The case has the traditional Sleeping Dogs art on the outside, but also features an inner design that has some cool artwork which I took a picture of for the listing as well. t has a few markings and scuffs—including one on the very back of the case itself that I tried to take a close-up of, as it is somewhat long and noticeable, so please make note of this from the photos now and do not complain if you get this item in mail and then suddenly notice the scratch on the back of the case. I have pointed this flaw out now both in here, and item descriptions. Overall, outside of that scratch, it is still in good condition and a very cool piece for any version of the Sleeping Dogs games to nest in due to the lack of console brandings on it. All discs fit the same. No manual or inserts were every included. The 360 game may actually become more coveted sooner than later, as the e-shop is shutting down for good, and there's a growing sense that the titles will jump in price (hard copies...) when that officially happens or continues to draw closer. While this copy has a sticker on it, it still plays fine, and if you're a 360 gamer it's kind of just a nice throw-in for you. I didn't want to send a bare case when I had no use or that game anymore. But if the sticker is stuck, the disc-only copies for last-gen systems are relatively cheap on here...anyway.... These SteelBooks are from 12 years ago, and harder to find as time passes along.
