Description: This real photo postcard features German film actress, Lee Parry (1901-1977). This beautiful actress appeared in films during the silent era. She was in more than 40 films between 1919 and 1939. Both genetics and environment directed Parry into the performance artrs. Her father was a stage actor, opera tenor and a variety director. Her mother was a singer. Parry was discovered by director Richard Eichberg in 1919. He would also be her future husband. He directed her in her film debut in "Jettatore" (1919). During her career she starred in several films with Bela Lugosi. Prry was particularly talented in comedies. Parry also acted on stage and was the star of several Viennese operettas. She also had a successful career as a singer. She recorded a number of songs that became popular. By 1956, Parry had a new husband, and the pair moved to Argentina. He was a director of the German exile theater, Freie Deutsche Buhne. Parry then performed on various stages throughout South America. This postcard was published by Ross Verlag as part of a series (No. 885/3). Miss Parry's portrait was taken by Alex Binder. This vintage portrait postcard is in very good condition (see scans).
