Description: Clean vintage Ken-Tech clock radio from the 70's. The case has a sticker which tells you it's made of "Simulated Wood" which I think is a charming way of saying plastic. :) The case has some knicks along the edges and scratches here and there due to age and use. There is some static when adjusting the volume up and down but it brings in the stations just fine. The tone and balance sliders seem to function as they should. I have no idea how to work or set the alarm so that function has NOT been tested. The clock lights up with red numbers but it seems dim to me. I let it run for while and while I could hear the humming of the clock motor, the time did NOT advance on its own. I can freely turn the dial to move the digits ahead and back but the clock does not do that by itself. So PLEASE NOTE THAT IT DOES NOT KEEP TIME. I did open the back to view the gearing from the motor to the "drums" that move the electrical connection to change the numerals, since my research showed that usually those gears become brittle and fall apart. I did not see any evidence of broken gears (pictures are attached). The motor seems to "catch" occasionally and even though the motor keeps trying, it just doesn't seem to have enough power to move the gear. BUT when I give it a little nudge, it will start moving again....only to repeat that process again. So, if you're handy, perhaps you can do more with this than I could. But I did want to let everything see the inside and show the gears and cogs for the numbers. From doing some research, I have read that this clock is not actually a digital type as it may look with the glowing numerals rather it has a "flip style" mechanical system inside to change the numerals. Very interesting! Please see all photos and the video of it working.
