The bolt operates smooth through the majority of its travel. Gets a little stiffer in its maximum retracted position, but I think this is by design. The bolt head does have some wear. I had no issues getting a wrench on it without slipping, however. The cast body is in excellent condition. These older ones are much better steel in my opinion.
