Description: Additional Information from InnerSleeve Product Description Like many sons who follow in their famous fathers' footsteps, Justin Tubb wasn't destined to make nearly as much of an artistic and commercial impact as his dad, Ernest Tubb. Still, the 17 late-'50s tracks assembled for this anthology are hardly a disgrace to the Tubb name, and not all that similar to Ernest Tubb's style. They're amiable, more or less typical hillbilly/honky tonk of the period, an optimistic and friendly nature permeating even the songs that are lyrically downbeat on the surface. The songs and performances on this collection aren't outstanding, but they're pretty pleasant excursions for the most part. Justin's voice has a pleasing tone that's higher than the one identified with father Ernest, but seems to lack the depth to get the most emotions out of the material. Better annotation would have helped listeners get more enjoyment out of the material, too; there's little in the way of background information, and no definite clue, for instance, as to who the woman is singing with Tubb on one of the best tracks, "I Miss You So." ~ Richie Unterberger About InnerSleeve We offer unbeatable prices, quick shipping times and a wide selection of vinyl.
