Honestly when I read this I was reminded a lot of "The Imitation of Christ" by Thomas A. Kempis. "Jesus: A Dialogue With The Saviour" by a "Monk of the Eastern Church" (anonymous authorship, quite common in these kinds of works) is nowhere near as expansive as "The Imitation of Christ." However, what it doesn't have in length it makes up for in its quiet contemplation. Each "dialogue" is broken down into 46 chapters, most of which are between 3-5 pages long. Read one chapter a day and pray on what you read, or you could read several....it doesn't matter.The Dialogues are not ordered in any specific way or under any specific subject matter. Each tends to draw upon the Gospels and for most scripture quotations, you will find the chapter/verse written at the bottom of the page. There really are no words to describe this excellent work other than "heavenly" (and I have to say, "spot on!"). I am glad I discovered this wonderful book at the local Byzantine Catholic Church. The book is a hard cover with dust jacket in good condition. There are no markings in the text. The binding is firm, the hinges solid, the pages are clean and intact.
