Description: Offered here is " Jean-Jacques Rousseau: Transparency and Obstruction " by Jean Starobinski, translated from French to English by Arthur Goldhammer, published by The University of Chicago Press in 1988. This softcover book is in Very Good Plus condition. The illustrated covers and spine have white titles. The cover has minor shelf wear, more so to the back. There is a 1-inch scrape along the back edge of the spine, resulting in a 1-millimeter tear at the crown of the spine (no loss of material). The corners show minor edge wear, with curling/creasing and some splitting of the material at the top right corner. The spine is uncreased. There are some light marks on the book block. There is gentle creasing to the top corner of the first twenty pages. The half title page shows some erased pencil marking and very faint staining along the fore-edge.
