JACK BENNY - TYPED LETTER SIGNED 02/27/1968 - HFSID 266645 JACK BENNY He signs a typed letter thanking a Florida man for sending him a good story and a business newsletter. Typed Letter signed: "Jack Benny", 1 page, 7¼x10½. On personal letterhead. Beverly Hills, California, 1968 February 27. To Mark E. Brown, Venice, Florida. In full: "Thanks very much for your letter. I enjoyed reading it and got a big kick out of the man whose age was 106. I also enjoyed reading the Clover Business letter. It was thoughtful of you to send it to me. Again many thanks and with all good wishes, I remain Sincerely yours," Vaudeville comedian Benny hosted a popular radio show from 1933, moving The Jack Benny Program smoothly to TV (1950-1965). His comic image as a tone-deaf, penny-pinching bachelor contradicted the real Benny, a philanthropist, devoted husband and competent violinist. He appeared in over 25 movies, the most critically acclaimed being To Be Or Not To Be (1942). Staple holes and rust mark in upper left corner, crossed out red ink notation in lower right. Pinhead-sized spots in blank left margin. Horizontal fold crosses two letters of signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
