Description: This is an original advertising poster for Ithaca Gun Co. Nitro Powder Proved Guns. It dates to 1914 and the artist is Luis Agazziz Fuertes. His bird paintings are of the same caliber as Audubon. The dimensions of the poster are 29 1/4" X 15 1/4". These posters were reproduced about 50 years ago. The Repros are exactly 29" X 15" and have a white border. The production was by Mane Colortype Chicago. This is different from the more common chromolithographs of the day. The print had been mounted down on cardboard with double sided film (tape). It easily came off the cardboard and I left the mounting film in the back. I believe it could be removed by a professional conservator but I don't think it is necessary to frame it properly. There is a small tear on the left side of the upper edge (see photo). The photos show several ripples on the print which will flatten when framed with acid free materials. This is a great example of a very rare advertising poster.Please email questions.
