I upgraded from the original model 8 quart DUO. The QUIET steam vent on this DUO PLUS will also diffuse the hot power steam coming from the vent very effectively (which is the best upgraded feature, putting this model at the top). The improved design of the DUO PLUS also allows for easier handling with its built-in slot that lets you stand up the lid on the side of the pot while draining any water into the reservoir. For me - the DUO PLUS is their BEST MODEL and the *most up to date*, even newer than the all black RIO (I think). Bottomline - the InstaPot is the perfect dry bean from scratch cooker which is 99.99% of what I use it for. Just the easy way it allows you to cook a pot of beans in 1 hour, 30 minutes is worth the full price. The Ninja was extremely heavy! I did love the lit up display.I have an old instant pot but I had to find my reading glasses and turn on bright lights to use the settings.Enter the Duo Pot with it's brightly lit easy to read display! And a knob to turn instead of poking the screen a multitude of times to change a setting. It also has preset buttons. The lid is extremely easy to clean.It came with a stainless inner pot instead of the usual teflon pot as in the Ninja Foodie. I don't use those so this saved me having to buy a stainless steel pot. After cooking beans, the teflon is stained and almost impossible to clean. I can use steel wool in the stainless pot and make it look new.Another great feature that the Ninja does not have, is the 'button' to release the steam located away from the steam vent. Gotta love that! No more accidentally forgetting to turn the steam vent into the correct position.. that same switch locks in the correct place. After cleaning, I noticed black pitting in the metal. Mind you, I used a non abrasive scrub mommy sponge...which defeated the whole purpose of having a stainless steel inner pot...should be able to scrub with steel wool with no issue like this! By other commenters reviews, said they had issue with pitting in the steel as well, which only got worse with more use. This is a sign of CHEAP STEEL COOKWARE...but I thought, maybe they were especially rough. Nope. I scrub my baby's back harder than I did this!Other commenters also say they that it simply quits works after 6 months of average use (about 1 time a week). This is a sign of CHEAP ELECTRONICS.Anyhow, it's an outsource issue. Instapot sold out to cheaper manufacturers *China, and now their product is garbage.I read time and time again that the older Instantpots are invincible. I'll be going to the thriftstores to look for old models.I returned this promptly the next day, detail cleaned it and repackaging it carefully.
