The handmade two-tone English Pewter pendant features spring-driven moveable wings. The wings of the pendant move down when the ball at the bottom of the pendant is pulled (see last photo). Icarus Ex Machina is a large pendant. Each wing measures approximately 2 1/4" long, and the central section of the pendant measures approximately 2 3/4" long from the bale to the ball at the bottom. The pendant comes on a 20" nickel-free chain. Please note: The Icarus Ex Machina has been retired for several years and is now very rare and hard to find. Alchemy Empire: Inspired by Industrial Revolution, Victorian, and Edwardian cultures, Alchemy Gothic has created a collection of outrageous and ingenious Retro Sci-Fi accessories with a 'Steampunk' tendency. Within Alchemy Empire (Alchemy Gothic's fictional Steampunk universe) the Icarus Ex Machina was created from blueprints of the the Black Baron's own prototype pinion-frame machine for mechanical flight. Handcrafted English Pewter: This pendant was handmade in England using the highest quality English Pewter. English Pewter is a lead-free, zinc-free alloy which is valued second only to silver. English Pewter is much harder to craft than the low-grade zinc and lead alloys (which contain a significant amount of toxic impurities) that are still being used in some jewelry manufacture today. Because these pendants were handcrafted and hand-finished, each one is unique; and there are slight variations between individual pieces. Also, slight imperfections in the finished product are normal, expected, and add to the unique handmade character of each piece.
