The lower part shows a detailed panorama of the city of Hamburg with its churches, fortifications and the harbor at the Elbe river. The engraving is further enriched by persons in typical clothing and several ships. Latin text on verso. This original engraving derives from Braun & Hogenberg's "Civitates orbis Terrarum. It was printed in the year 1572, measures 33 x 47 cm (plate size) and is in good condition. There is some very light browning of the paper due to age.
