He appeared in more than 100 films from the 1940s through 1970s, including I'll Cry Tomorrow, Ocean's 11, and The Godfather. This pastel was purchased at Colleen Conte's personal property auction (wife of Richard Conte) on July 18, 2009, in Fredonia, Kansas. Auction was presented by Auctioneer Larry Marshall. It is rumored that Conte created this pastel along side Picasso (Conte knew Picasso and painted with him).
