These columnar cactus cuttings need to callous on the cut end, and then they should be planted, but not watered (or watered very sparingly). They can be given more water once they root, but it will probably not be necessary. If you live in a very hot climate, these cuttings should not be given full sun until they have rooted and are established. Note that "Peruvian Apple Cactus" is an umbrella term for several closely related (and nearly identical) species. At this time, I am unable to narrow down the type of cactus any further, but note that this is not the standard variety or the semi-monstrose variety (both of which tend to grow faster, and have fewer and less pronounced deformations).
