Description: This is an enchanting and finely rendered Antique Old 19th c. Italian Florence Cityscape Painting, Gouache and possibly Watercolor on paper, by the late 19th century - early 20th century Florentine School Italian painter, Emilio Papini (1870 - 1950.) This artwork depicts a lovely Italian cityscape scene, featuring the wide and ornate courtyards of the famed Boboli Gardens, featuring large Neoclassical buildings and surrounding palatial architecture. A bubbling fountain is visible in the center of the setting, while the silhouettes of couple in typical late 19th century clothing, including a top hat, long dress, etc. can be seen walking around the courtyard in the lower left corner. On the path up ahead, a young man is shown riding a horse at full gallop. In the far distance, the famous Duomo di Firenze cathedral is visible. Signed: "E. Papini" in the lower right corner. Additionally, the artist has hand signed and annotated this artwork in ink on the verso of this painting: "(?)...originale de Emilio Panini. Veduta de Cattedrale de Boboli." Approximately 14 1/2 x 17 1/2 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 8 3/4 x 12 5/8 inches. Very good condition for age, with some light age-related toning to the paper.
