Description: Name: Eurypterus lacustris (2) Age: Upper Silurian Formation: Bertie Waterlime, Williamsville "A" section Location: Fort Eire, Ontario, Canada Size: Plate is 9 inches tall! We recently acquired some nice fossils from the late Joseph Butterfield Collection (NJ). We will be auctioning these fossils here over the next few weeks. This is a very nice multiple plate of extinct fossil arthropods. They are Eurypterus lacustris from upstate New York. This unusual type of fossil animal has been designated the State Fossil of New York. This large plate has two nearly complete examples and a partial specimen preserved. The heads, segmented bodies, some paddles and telsons are all easily seen. The distinct fossils have good color and contrast and are well displayed on the squared, repaired block of limestone. This is a very impressive multiple plate of these uncommon Silurian arthropods from near Buffalo, New York. A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS.com is included with this item.
