This is a photography collection of the sculptures and paintings of Icelandic artist Einar Jónsson. Jónsson moved to Denmark after finding himself disappointing in the sculpture scene in Iceland. After studying in Rome, Jónsson rejected classical art styles and felt that he identified closer with German symbolism. He later spent two years in America to study, and returned to Iceland where he produced a body of work from plaster. A museum of his work opened in 1923 in Reykjavik, which featured these plaster sculptures casted in bronze. He was known for spending over a decade on one piece of art. FORN-ABE-MSB-Shelf-696-jr206
