Edelweiss Trick Matchbox..Vintage from the 1910s UsedA fantastic antique puzzle-box matchsafe featuring a carved Edelweiss floral design on the lid. The matchbox dates to the 1890's and was made in Switzerland. This box has atrick to opening - it has a two piece sliding lid with rotatingportion...there is a pin/peg inside that keeps it from opening unlessthe box is turned upside down.When the top panel of the lid isrotated out of the way, it reveals a striker for the matches. Whenthe box is full opened, there is storage for the matches themselves. The box measures 2 3/4" by 11/4" in size and 3/4" in thickness. No chips or cracks tothe wood or carving, no scuffs. The interior of the box is stillclean, as is the mica striker panel. Small black mark on panel,appears even with the wood when rubbed.
