Masks should be changed every couple of hours until they can be washed, so make sure you've got plenty of uniquely you masks on hand! Most masks you see for sale or designs you see for DIY do not offer anything close to real protection, let alone anything close to N95 or N99 protection. I did a massive amount of research to find designs that give as much protection as possible while still being washable. They must fit well with no gaps, and be comfortable enough to wear, have tested well for protection value, all while being fairly easy to make, have no center seam, have room for your face so you aren't rubbing up against it and can speak easily, and be durable and easy to clean. Breathability is also a must. If you keep having to pull the mask down in order to breathe, you are defeating its purpose. I have done tons of research over the last few months to learn the best ways to protect both my mother and myself with chronic health challenges, and my Face Mask kits include the best supplies, multiple patterns, and recommendations for effective, comfortable, durable, and washable masks. Masks can either be made reversible, or can be made with filter pocket. Regardless of which mask style you choose, please make sure not to touch the inside of the mask when you remove it if you will be wearing it again before washing, and please keep the inside folded together to protect it. The second pattern design comes in 4 sizes, so would be more suitable for smaller faces. It does not natively use fold over trim, but that can easily be substituted, or you can use bias tape, but in my opinion fold over elastic trim is the better option for a better fit. The second pattern design uses interfacing. You an use that or you can use a layer of the included Tool Box Hydroknit. It will help give it shape. Keep in mind that more layers are good, as long as you can still breathe effectively through them.
