Originally, the seals were sold to raise funds to build hospitals for tuberculosis. Over time, as the threat of TB lessened, other charities received benefits from the sale of the seals. In addition to the National issues, many Danish towns issued their own local seals, and some other organizations issued their own as well. Tuborg Beer, one of the iconic Danish brands, was founded in 1873. The Tuborg Fondet (Tuborg Foundation) was formed in 1931. According to tuborg.com: So as soon as our brew started flowing around the world, we started thinking of a way for enabling more dreamers to succeed. It was 1931 when we established the Tuborg foundation, whose purpose is to support volunteers driven initiatives that can drive positive change in society from the bottom up. It has been a great journey and one thing we have learnt is that music has a special power to bring people together, build bridges and make a difference in our communities.Tuborg was acquired, in 1970, by the other iconic Danish brewery, Carlsberg, but the Tuborg brand continued, as did Tuborg Fondet. In the mid 1990s, Tuborg Fondet issued their own "Julemærker" to fund their charitable programs. This is a sheet of 24 seals, issued in 1996, depicting a Tuborg delivery truck as well as Santa and his sleigh, on alternating seals within the sheet. The text in the margin of the sheet translates as:Tuborg's Christmas Seals are published in agreement with the Julemærkekontoret, which has received DKK 50,000 from the Tuborg Foundation for the Christmas Seal homes in Ølsted, Hobro, Kruså, and Skælskør. Here, children with problems get caring encouragement. The first Christmas stamp was issued in 1904 with the same good purpose. (Julemærkekontoret is the official office for Christmas Seals in Denmark) This is a sheet of 24 seals. These sheets were folded in half and glued to cartons of Tuborg Beer during the 1996 holiday season. There is a bead of dried glue in the margin. The seals are rouletted, and have dry gum on the reverse. Sheets are F/VF, OG, NH (the blue color of the sky is not as bright as it appears in the scan) Approximate Sheet Size: 148 x 247 mm. Most of my working inventory plus backup stock was sold at public auction. However, I have retained some material that I will be offering for sale. In addition, I have some "new" material that was mixed into lots I have bought for my own collections. I will be listing some of the material in my eBay store at fixed prices. I will also be offering some material at auction, either as single items or mixed lots. There will be many bargains available. There will be large and small lots, some containing similar material, some containing a random mixture, and some containing only one or a few items. The condition will be mixed, but none of the lots will be just accumulations of damaged or faulty stamps (unless specifically listed as such). Items in stockpage or larger lots may be removed and repackaged into glassines to save on shipping costs. A Note about Poster Stamps and Gum: Because many poster stamp collectors are primarily interested in the image on the stamp, the absence or presence of gum on the back is of little concern. If no mention of gum is made, then there may or may not be gum present. If you are only interested in poster stamps with original gum, please inquire before bidding. Actual condition issues (that are not apparent from the scan) WILL be described. A Note about "Stock Images": Occasionally I will have more than one example of an item in inventory. Rather than scan each one individually, I may use the same image for multiple examples of the item.
