Description: Due to popular demand from anglers who've bought bearing upgrade kits for the smaller Daiwa BG1500-4000 sized reels, I've put together an upgrade kit for the larger Daiwa BG4500-8000 sized reels. These larger reels are used for larger game fish and a robust line roller assembly is even more important as you're fighting your next personal best game fish. Why upgrade?The Daiwa BG reels are great spinning reels, but by default use plastic bushings in the line roller instead of bearings like many other high-performance reels. The plastic bushings are constantly exposed to water and debris from the fishing line and quickly start to seize up if not regularly cleaned and re-lubricated with grease or oil. When this happens, your reel will start to feel less smooth and the line roller will become noisy and cause line twist. If you're using braided line, over time it'll wear a small groove in the line roller (#H24-6103), which will eventually cut or fray your line. One of the easiest things you can do to prevent this is to upgrade the bushings to ball bearings to ensure the line roller continues to turn smoothly under load and not require as much maintenance. This is especially important if you fish saltwater as multiple components in the line roller assembly are prone to corrosion and sand. What are the drawbacks?None!
