Description: Custom made leather half-chaps by J. Albert, Bottier, Saumur (and so marked on the interior). Saumur is the home of the French Cavalry School and the fabled Cadre Noir equestrian team. J. Albert is a local custom boot-maker ("Boitier") who supplies both bespoke and off-the-shelf boots and chaps to the local equestrian community. These chaps were acquired at the J. Albert store in Saumur about 1997-98, but never worn so are as new condition. They are brown, heavy waxed cowhide fully lined with buff leather; full-length nylon zippers with a metal snap closure tab at the bottom.Measurements: Height: 19" (48.5cm) at the highest point. Width: 14 1/2" (37cm) at the top of the calf, chap laid flat Width: 15" (38.5cm) at the "belly" (widest circumference) of the calf, chap laid flatNo returns on these, so make sure the measurements conform to your actual leg/calf sizes. NOTE: Being natural leather, these chaps will break in/stretch over time, but there is no elastic component to account for 1/2" or so larger deviations in calf size. If your calf sizes (circumference measurements) are greater than the above given dimensions, the chaps are probably too small for you.
