This heavy duty original is tough as nails, just like the man it's named after. Sylvester Stallone chose this glove in the original Rocky film due to its sleek shape. Back then, Casanova were only known amongst purist boxers, and were scattered across North America, used in old-school boxing gyms because they were so durable. "Rocky" catapulted it into the lime-light, and from that point on boxers have desired to own a pair, both for nostalgia and for their amazing construction. Casanova is one of the original Mexican Boxing Glove makers. Known for its hardy construction, Casanova Boxing Gloves are made in the true Mexican tradition, tough, rough, and ready to rumble. Casanova Boxing Gloves use latex foam padding, full leather construction, and this model, I'm excited to say, dates back to the original style of Mexican glove. It is made with double stitching, welted seams, and thick, durable Mexican cowhide leather. These are some of the most beautiful Mexican gloves I have seen. When I was exploring Mexican boxing equipment, I was, of course, drawn to the Casanova brand due to its long history. I'm so excited to be able to source Casanova for Aussie boxers! I have these in classic red, black, and maroon. The leather is more of a matte feel and look than, say, Reyes leather. I also have 16oz training gloves in hook and loop in black and red. The retro-style lace-up gloves have a sleeker design than the older versions you may have seen. They are a very beautiful glove. When I bought my first pair to try out, I found myself wearing them for no reason. I would just sit in front of the TV wearing my Casanova retro lace-ups. You won't be disappointed with this investment. Mexican gloves are handmade in little workshops in the heart of Mexico City. In Mexico, boxers aren't so much concerned with the WEIGHT of the glove, rather the SIZE. Mexican gloves are very rarely the weight advertised, and almost CERTAINLY heavier. If you're looking for something that is very accurate in terms of weight and appearance, I suggest looking at Topboxer who make a wonderful glove (very similar to Winnings). If you're looking for some old-school, rugged Mexican leather gloves that are hardy and go the distance, then hop right on the train and enjoy the ride! As the gloves are handmade, small blemishes or inconsistencies in look and weight are to be expected.
