Description: Caro-Nan purses were made by Carolyn McDaniel and Nancy Steele in Jackson Mississippi. The two owned and operated the store from the mid1960s, manufacturing, distributing, and selling their purses with the help of housewives needing to make some money at the time. As popularity grew, they custom made the purses for shops around the country, that included handpainted names of that town’s stores and landmarks. A lucky penny was placed on certain bags adding a unique touch along with the hand signed Caro-Nan inside the lid of the purse. The purses were sold from the mid 60s through the early 80s. Today, the basket purses are used as purses, decorative items and storage baskets. This purse was made for the Gus Mayer department store in New Orleans. Don't miss a chance to own a unique and popular collectible basket purse!
