Description: Book Matched, Lightly Figured Black Chacate Wood Knife Handle Scales, Inlays or other Craft Wood. Measurements:3/8” thick X 1-5/8” wide X 6” long. +/ Black Chacate, also known as Chacate Preto and Tsotso, is a fairly rare fine wood.This particular set of scales is from wood stock grown in Mozambique, but it also grows in areas of South Africa. It is a dense, hard wood but works and machines fairly easily and polishes to a natural fine luster. The face sides of this set are progressively sanded down from 80, 120, 180, 220 and finally with 300 grit for an extremely smooth surface.The reverse sides are less refined but sanded to 120 grit, These scales are completely dry and are ready for use. Moisture content measured under 8%. All pics are shown in indoor lighting, and from as many angles as possible. The first set of pics are shown with a light coat of pure linseed oil, to present the fabulous colors, figure and extremely beautiful grain, The rest of the pics are shown in the wood’s natural dry state.The last 2 pics are the reverse sides of the scales, and are shown dry. There are no defects or other imperfections to my knowledge.A few faint band saw marks may remain. The set pictured, which is the case with all of my listings, is the exact set you will receive.
