Description: Black Hardstone Celt Axe No Provenance or Age 3.5" I purchased this item at an auction, and it has no provenance. There were other true ancient and historic period artifacts there, but on this one they had nothing. It had been wire mounted on a board and I think coated with something to shine it up. See photo where there are obvious drips of finish. There is some possible use chipping to the working edge.
