Description: The Estes Black Brant XII is an awesome Pro Series scale model of the famous Canadian Sounding Rocket. The Estes kit comes with laminated balsa, through-the-wall fins and fiberboard rings, and Balsa stand-offs for the launch lugs. Though these parts allow you to sand realistic scale profiles to the fins, balsa is not the strongest material for these parts. This upgrade kit features drop-in replacement fin cores precision cut from Basswood of matching thickness as the balsa parts. This allows you to strengthen the fins dramatically, without having to modify the fin slots in the kit. Because Basswood sands easily, you can still re-create the scale fin profiles by using the balsa skins provided in the kit and laminating them to the Basswood cores. The fiberboard rings in the kit also get an upgrade to 1/8" plywood. These rings are custom fit to the tubes in THIS kit, which are slightly different than standard Estes tubes. Lastly, the balsa launch lug stand-offs get an upgrade to 1/8" plywood from the 3/32nd balsa provided in the kit. Not only are these stand-offs stronger than the stock parts, they are thicker, and fit the 1/4" launch lugs more closely, giving them a greater gluing surface. This parts upgrade kit includes 4 lower fin cores of 3/32nd Basswood, 4 middle fin cores of 1/16th inch Basswood, 3 large, 1/8 inch plywood centering rings, one small,1/8 inch plywood centering ring with pre-cut shock cord hole, and 4 plywood stand-offs.
