Description: This is a nice specimen of Banded Iron with a good striping pattern. It has some white mineral in places, probably quartz.It has been smoothly polished by natural forces. It weighs about 1 pound 2 ounces and measures approximately 4.5 X 2.25 X 1.5 inches. It has fairly strong magnetic properties and all but our weakest magnets would stick to it. It was found in central Wyoming. Banded Iron is at least 1.8 billion years old and formed of iron, hematite, magnetite with chert, jasper or quartz. It is also known as Seer Stone, Tiger Iron, and Genesis Stone.Banded Iron is thought to have metaphysical properties including opening closed chakras, grounding, channeling energy, repelling negative energy, and healing.
