Description: An antique Early American oil portrait on canvas of a handsome young man, the Reverend Grover Comstock. Comstock was born in NY and went on to become a missionary in India. Written notation is seen verso. The painting sold at Bonhams in 2008 for $2,700. The owner had it restored/cleaned, its original state can be seen in the Bonhams photo. Overall it is in good condition, the painting does however have a loss now to the canvas near the upper right. This can be corrected by a restorer or hang as is for a patinated/aged look. There is some light toning, craquelure, scattered in painting, small indentation, small tear, etc. It is housed in a contemporary figured maple frame with light wear/small marks. Please see all photos for condition. A great piece to display! Approx. 33.5" x 27.5' framed Ships well packed and fully insured!!!!
