Description: The fine item you are considering is an Antique H.C. Nelson Chicago Music Company 5 String Banjo Needs Some Work. This neat vintage banjo is in overall alright condition, but it will need some issues addressed, these being that the skin head is torn and will need to be replaced, the strings will need to be replaced, there are five hooks that hold the head down that are missing or busted and the neck is loose such that it will pull straight out of the body for a couple of inches or so. This looks to me like there should be a small wood wedge that holds the neck snug in the body that is now missing, so that wedge will have to be replaced. You’ll also need a new bridge and while the tailpiece is still with the banjo, the tie that holds it to the peg at the bottom is missing. There’s also a small chip in the wood on the back of the headstock. The frets show minor wear but nothing bad and while all this may sound like a lot, I really don’t think that there’s all that much work to be done here to get this girl back into good playing shape. The hoop measures 11” in diameter and the instrument is 33” long overall. Sorry, I don’t have a case for the banjo but it’ll be mummified in bubble wrap to insure safe shipping.
