Description: Classical/Empire Mahogany Center Table, Albany, New York, Circa 1840's DESCRIPTION Fantastic Classical/Federal/Empire mahogany center/side table, circa 1840, features a solid mahogany circular top, with an elaborate intricately carved apron of kissing birds and swags, supported by three elaborate hand carved columns above a shaped platform raised on heavily carved paw feet. This dramatic center table can just about fit into the category of fantasy furniture. It is like a masterpiece of the American Classical/Empire style as developed outside the major cities of New York, Boston, and Philadelphia. It is gorgeous and in great condition.
