Antique Early Toledo Uhl Art Steel Parlor Cafe Chair Plywood Seat Partial Label

Description: Antique/vintage early Toledo Uhl Art Steel Ice Cream Parlor Chair. This chair features the original red paint, plywood seat and steel construction. It is 34" chair with an 16" backrest and is 18" seat height. The seat is 14" diameter. Under the worn red paint is a sturdy chair made of solid steel with a sleek curved back, legs and support hoop. The plywood seat is an indication of this being an early production of the No. 151 chair as later they changed to the all-metal seat due to splintering (ouch!). My understanding, however, is that the first prototype did not have the leg support hoop, so I would guess this to be between 1908 - 1920. Part of the original label, and a shadow of what was, is still visible on the underside of the seat. Chair does show some wear including but not limited to rough feet, it is missing one bolt in the seat back, some light splitting/splintering of the seat, and scraped up paint.
