Description: Nice richly colored cranberry glass pickle castor on an ornate stand by the Meriden Co.. The glass features an inverted coin spot pattern. The ornate stand is silver-plated by the Meriden Co., per stamp on the underside. There is some nice scrollwork on the handle, and the base. This one is two-tone with a mixture of silver and gold-colored metals. The pattern carries through to the included tongs. although it's not the clearest maker's mark, it is stamped Meriden B. Co. on the underside. Meriden B. Co. was formed in 1852 in Meriden, Connecticut. Meriden operated until 1898 when it became part of the International Silver Company. Good condition. The Glass jar is very good with no chipping. The Silver-plate stand has some tarnishing and wear on metal surfaces. The lid is also tarnished and the inner ring has been bent and reshaped. Stands 11 1/4 inches tall.
