Description: Antique Cast Iron Conical Mold Gold Mining Assay Tool Comstock Lode Area Nevada. A Rare Estate Find near Carson City. The former owner had a collection of local cast iron pieces from the mining days including this one. Writing painted on the side is not legible due to oxidation. This often was the mine or owners name. Nice aged wood handle. The handle is bent slightly to the left when looking from the handle side. Oxidation (rust) noted. A nice piece of mining history.
