Description: For sale is a really nice floral plate made in Swansea in the early 19th century . The " Cambrian Pottery " was founded around 1765 and made porcelain from 1814 until 1822. The owner was L.W. Dillwyn who got the famous William Billingsley from Nantgarw to work for him. The factory closed in 1870. The plate has a nice relief design to the paste along the rim with green and gold designs in between. Gold trim to the edge. The edge of the well has a fancy gold trim to it but the best part is the superb floral arrangement in the center which was painted by William Pollard . A really good quality plate. The paste is so thin and translucent and of amazing quality! The piece is in great condition with some wear to the gold trim on the edge and wear to the gold at the high points along the edge of the well from stacking. It is so even that it seems part of the design. The piece displays nicely! The plate is unmarked which is normal but definitely made by them during this period.
