Antique 19th century Carved Wood Saint Statue Santo Fragment Folk Art Sculpture

Description: This finely carved early to mid 1800's walnut wood (or similar) figure of a male saint stands 14 1/2" tall as pictured(11" figure alone) and displays a wonderful "scrubbed" surface of chalky off-white gesso ground with fine wood grain exposed. The carving is exceptionally nice and the details well rendered. He is mounted on a black-painted fruit wood socle measuring 2 1/8" tall x 2 3/4" diameter.
