Description: For sale is a great little figurine made by Meissen in about 1760. From the Amor / Cupid in disguise series - a cherub meant to be a lady musician playing the hurdy gurdy instrument. There are about 80 of these figures made by Kaendler / Acier all of cupids in different occupations. A really nice little figurine! A little later than the original 1750s pieces but still early and quite nice. She is wearing a scarf covering her head with a simple cloth covering the mid section and pink shoes. Wings to the back, a typical base with scrolls all around highlighted with gilding and tree stump in the back as support. A really nice figurine that is in perfect condition with just a minor touch of wear to the gilding. Hard to find a piece from this period in this good a condition! The bottom of the base is flat which is typical for these early pieces with a puce triangle as a painter's mark. Blue crossed swords mark to the back of the base with the dot between the bottom. The figurine is 3.75 inches tall, 2 inches wide and 1.875 inches deep. 18th century German Germany Figur If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces.
