Description: Pair of fantastic 18th century tapestry remnants. They appear to have been clipped form the same larger tapestry. They have been clipped in a heart shape. Each panel is roughly 14”x16”. I’m unsure of the origin but almost certainly it’s continental European. Possibly French or Italian. The scenes looks kind of Italian or Mediterranean to my eye. The one on the left is quite vivid. The one on the right of the first photo has had its colors more muted by time. They were both backed with an orange fabric. The one on the left has its back completely covered and has a strip of Velcro ay the top. The one on the left just has the border covered in the orange fabric. They both have some small tears and holes but you won’t notice them when they are hanging on the wall. It might be a good idea to have them framed eventually to preserve them. In the meantime they could be displayed as is. These pieces came out of the Anthony Athanas collection. He was a well known owner of one of the most successful restaurants in America. They will ship asap! Thanks
