Description: Antique 1893 WORLDS FAIR/COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION STAMP BOX/HOLDER-1.5" X 1"-HTF! Add this hard to find 1893 World's Fair Columbian Exposition postage stamp holder to you collection! This sweet and tiny stamp box appears to be made of silver plated base metal. There is a lovely original aged patina on the piece. The hinged top has a bronzed medallion of Columbus front and center. Under the medallion the engraved text says, "Columbian Postage Stamps." The back of the box/holder has an oval bronzed medallion that says, "Chicago Worlds Fair 1893." The bottom of the box has cross hatch marks. Could those marks be there to make this piece also usable as a match striker? The only reason I have graded this piece as "very good pre-owned condition" and not excellent condition is because the front and back cover are ever so slightly bowed inward. Please see pictures.
